Rochford Road to be closed in both directions

The closure is to facilitate the excavation and installation of a main drainage line and the reconstruction of the carriageway.

Residents and businesses affected by the road closure are advised to follow the signposted diversion route in place, and drivers will be advised of the works via variable message signs, local traffic management signs, Twitter and the bettersouthend website. During these works, Eurovia will continue to provide school crossing patrol officers at the Bell Junction during term times.

This closure is for the safety of drivers and the workforce and is subject to weather, progress on site and Covid-19 restrictions.

The £5m Bell junction project aims to improve the traffic flow across this key junction into and out of the town centre. The majority of the funding for The Bell Junction improvement (£4.3m) is from the Government’s Local Growth Fund, with the remainder coming from the Council’s Capital Budget.

We apologise for any inconvenience these necessary works may cause and appreciate your continued patience. We aim to keep disruption to a minimum. If you have any questions or queries about our work, please email bettersouthend@southend.gov.uk.
