The Women's World Tour. October 7th, starting position Shoeburyness.

Southend-on-Sea is a great place to be. It has its faults, but as residents, we all know that in truth we are truly lucky to live here. Our sandy beaches are the envy of other seaside resorts, our cliffs gardens and other parks offer year-round pleasantries, our theatres play host to big-name musicians and comedians and the jewel in our crown - the longest pleasure pier in the world.

Southend included in City Status Bid!

The report will recommend that a bid is submitted as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Her Majesty The Queen will be the first British monarch to have reached 70 years on the throne, and the Platinum Jubilee celebrations will reflect on Her Majesty’s reign, and her impact on the UK and the world since 1952. As part of these celebrations, there will be a civic honours competition, including a competition for city status.

Autumn Crumble Slice with Blackberry Sauce

It is impossible not to do a blackberry recipe when the hedgerows are full in late summer.  The base is just half the crumble made into a dough and pressed into a tin.  The filling has a mix of blackberries and plums which work well together along with cinnamon.  It is lovely with a cup of tea or coffee but to turn into a dessert you can make the sauce.
